The director, Lionel Baier

Lionel Baier was born 13th December 1975 in Lausanne in a Swiss family of Polish decent.

He studied Humanities (majors: Film Studies, French, Italian) at Lausanne University. Alongside he was First Assistant Director to many Swiss film directors, including Jacqueline Veuve, Richard Dindo, Yves Yersin, Jean-Stéphane Bron and Yvan Butler.

Since 1992 he has co-managed the Cinema Rex in Aubonne.

In 2002 he was appointed Head of the Film Unit at écal, the Cantonal Art School in Lausanne.
In 2005 he received the cultural prize « Young Creators» from the “Fondation vaudoise pour la promotion et la création artistiques” (Swiss regional cultural fund). Moreover, he received the «Best European Director Prize » at New European Film Festival 2005 (NEFF) in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain
